Thursdays during the school-year are my favorite days.
I teach in a co-op on Wednesday afternoons and the preparation from Monday to Wednesday always makes me a little bit busier than usual. It's the same for the kids too, who have to prepare their writing assignments, history timelines, geography maps and get their history literature read to be ready for discussion.
On Thursday morning we all sort of fall in a heap of relief. Another week done!
I love all the "-ber" months. Love them. Here we are, the first day, of the first month, of my favorite time of the year. I love this place of anything exciting, when you are at the beginning and the anticipation of all the good things to come lies open in front of you. Just waiting to be enjoyed... love that.
I'm typing at you this morning between bites of my favorite fall-time breakfast: Oatmeal with Craisens, walnuts and cinnamon. With a side of fresh hot coffee.
The mornings are cool. It's as if a switch was flipped and the world knows its time to slow down. I am certain that pumpkin bread and soups are soon to take their place on the menu once again.
We have taken to having school outside in the mornings.
Even the leaves on a few trees have begun to change.
I just love the weather this time of year.
Today is going to be a fun day. This morning I get to have a cup of coffee with my dear friend the Carpoolqueen. I am certain I see a pumpkin latte in my future. Then I am off to buy some new soccer cleats for The Boy.
There is just something about soccer that makes me happy. Maybe its those years my dad coached my brothers' teams. My mom worked 3-11p shift at the hospital back then so I had to tag along to soccer practices. I would hang out with the other sisters playing on the playground. The air would slowly get cooler as the season went on. I loved it... the practices, the games, the oranges cut into quarters at half-time...
I still love it today... only now I bring my folding chair and a cup of coffee, and maybe something to crochet. I get to sit and chat with the other mom's and enjoy a bit of time outside.
I am pretty sure I love everything that has to do with the fall season... I could write volumes I think.
I'm also going to make myself a new fall crochet project... and today I am buying the yarn: Everyday Cardi. I'm not sure if I should do a fall color, a neutral color, or a bright and sassy color to lift my spirits come January/February when the world turns a little grey and my heart gets homesick for color.
Well, the oatmeal is eaten, and the coffee mug is empty. Thanks for enjoying a moment in the first day of September with me.
