Favorite Things: An Overcast Day
According to several online resources, the average days of sunshine per year is between 300 and 350+ . So when a day like today occurs, we desert dwellers enjoy it. Well, at least this desert dweller does.
When I woke up this morning it was overcast and cool. It's the kind of morning that makes you want to brew an extra pot of coffee and have your friends over for a bite of something homemade.
It's the kind of morning that whispers ideas of sitting under a blanket and reading all day long.
It's the kind of morning when I am tempted to skip the gym, the housework, and the correspondence.
Not to avoid people, or places or things. But to enjoy what almost never comes.
I know there are places where this kind of day is the rule, not the exception. I'm not sure I could live in a place with day after day of dark skies. But today, it makes me happy.
Speaking of happy....
I ran out of fiction books to read. Which is like running out of coffee in this house. I am hesitant to borrow from the library right now because of the move, so I perused my book shelf. I think I am going to start the Mitford series all over again.
Yes, clouds and Mitford.
Could it get any better?
Happy day.

I just finished the first book in the Mitford series. It was pretty good. I'm trying to locate the second one. Where in AZ do you live? I just moved from Sedona to Wisconsin. I miss the sunshine.
Coffee and rereading Mitford--perfect!
Sounds like a great to curl up w/ a book and a cup of coffee! I have never read Mitford.. hmm sounds like a series I would like!
Enjoy your day. It was cloudy and rainy here today and it was very welcome after all the hot dry weather we've been having!
I so love rainy days here in GA b/c they are far and few between. Coffee and reading books - wow, does that sound great or what? I have always wanted to read the Mitford series, but I just haven't yet. I hope you had a fun day!
MMMM, sounds like a day I'd like--TODAY :) It only sprinkles here and I'd love a good "soakin'" rain to quote my grandmother and have coffee and books ALL day! There is the slightest (and I mean slightest) hint in the early mornings and evenings here in GA that fall is coming...and I can't wait!!
Peedaddle. It sounds perfect.
Could you send some of that overcast weather north a few miles?
I have not read the Mitford series, so thanks for the tip...I'll be heading to my library tomorrow! :) I so enjoy overcast days as well...there is a completely different feeling about them. Hope you enjoyed it!
this sounds like an interesting series, I'll have to go to the library and have a look. Thanks for talking about it. I'm in Colorado - just dropped an aunt from Arizona off at the airport. She has loved the weather here; over cast, in the 70's and yesterday we had a hail storm - so amazing as we are south near Pueblo and it is always warm and dry here - almost always. :)
