Yesterday I took my car to get an oil change.

Embarrassing Moment
While the kids and I waited on the car, we had lunch across the parking lot at the local diner with my mom and dad.
When I called the Fix-It Shop to make my appointment I noticed that the phone number was almost the exact same number as The Mister's work number:
Fix It Shop: 555-0003
The Mister's Office: 555-3000*
The Mister had called me while I was waiting in the diner for my parents to arrive. He doesn't call me everyday so I was glad to hear from him.
We had a lovely lunch, during which the lady from the Fix-It shop called to tell me my car would soon be ready.
We left the diner, said good-bye to my parents and headed across the parking lot to pick up the car.
Before I could reach the front door of the Fix-It shop, I hear my dad honk his horn at me. At the same time my phone is ringing. I pull the phone out, look at the caller ID, see that it says 555-0003. I am excited to see that The Mister is calling. He never calls twice in one day, so I'm thrilled to get to talk to him again. Meanwhile, my mom is trying to tell me something. I quickly listen to her, and then say into the cell phone, "Hi Honey! What's up!" in a cheery and happy-to-hear-you-kind of tone.
There is pregnant pause on the other end of the phone before I hear a strange voice say, "Uh, this is Tim, from the Fix-It shop. Your car is ready."
Yes, world, swallow me now.
I walked into the lobby and told Tim that the phone numbers were so close and I thought he was my husband. He laughed and told me that he thought I was just really friendly.
It could have been much, much worse.
Often times when The Mister calls me I'll pick up the phone and say, "Lana's love shack. Lana speaking."
You don't know how grateful I hadn't said that!
Happy Friday!

LOL that is to funny.. sounds just like something I would do! I bet you are so thankful that you didn't answer like you typically do! I think Tim would have hung up! LOL
Oh, I am so glad you shared this for our entertainment. And I'm glad to know things like this happen to other people, too, so I know I'm not alone.
A co-worker of mine was talking with a client one time, and as she was getting ready to hang up, the guy said, "Thanks a lot...bye." And she, oh so cheerily, said, "Love you! Bye!" She never lived that one down.
Hilarious!
I have sooo many times done what Jackie's co-worker did...I've said "I love you" to or "okay, babe" to random customer service people or just a person I wouldn't normally say that to!! Oh well, laugh it up!!
Good thing you didn't use a more sensual greeting :) Nice to meet you.
Too funny! I've had moments like that before too. At least it's good for a laugh!
Have a great weekend!
I had the same kind of thing happen to me this week! Except I was the one dialing. I punched in my husband's extension number at work and when he answered, I said, "Hey, babe." I heard a long pause..and then "Um, excuse me?" Then I realized, it wasn't my man at all. He was in a meeting and someone else had picked up his phone. Boy was I glad that I hadn't said some of the crazier things that I sometimes say! My man got a kick out of it. K2
Loved Tim's comment back to you. Too funny!
Good thing Tim has a good sense of humor!
If you love coffee, you'll enjoy Peet's Coffee--Major Dickason's blend. I cant' drink any other coffee these days.:-)

This made me laugh! I've done that before. In fact, just the other day, after ordering a pizza, I signed off the way I do when I'm talking to my husband on the phone, "Okay. Love ya! Bye."
K4 and K2 - way to go - you are my girls! Can't wait to get all my Ks together again!
NC Mama
LOL
I had something similar happen to me once. The house phone rang, and the caller ID said it was my husband's cell. I answered, "Hey, Baby" in a very solicitous voice.
"Val? It's "Chris."
Chris is my husband's boss. OOPS!!!!
Hubby had left his cell phone in Chris' car. Chris was just using the phone to let me know that Q could pick it up at the office tomorrow.
BTW, I've been enjoying your blog. I'll check back often.
Yes, Lana's Love Shack most definitely would have been worse. :)
Heehee!!!! That's so cute! Good thing the fix-it guy has a sense of humor.
That's a great story...and Lana's Love Shak! Wouldn't that have been a hoot!
I think I would have died, having to see the dude right after I did that! Oh, the silly things we do...
