A Lesson in Spinning

Remember the post I wrote last year about drying my washed lettuce on the spin cycle of my washing machine?

And do you remember how that post led Mrs. Moofish to gift me with this?

Well, spinning your lettuce on the Spin Cycle is all well and fine, but let me be the first to tell you that the reverse is NOT true.

When your ten-year-old washing machine goes out mid-wash, and refuses to Spin and Drain; and you are trying to figure out how to unload a full load of clothes that are swimming in soapy water, the answer is NOT to use the salad spinner.

It just. Won't. Work.

Not for lack of trying. One piece of clothing at a time.

So it looks like I will be getting a new washing machine. Which is kind of a bummer, because I was just telling The Mister that I thought we "needed" to get a Wii with Wii Fit (for our P.E. Curriculum, you know? It's for educational purposes.)

When I showed him the washer he said, "Well doing the laundry by hand is probably more exercise than a Wii Fit anyway!"

I didn't find the humor in that.

At all.

But I digress...

So the La Vida Lesson for today?

Salad Spinner-- An awesome invention!

Spinning laundry in that spinner?

Not so much.

Happy Wednesday!

ooo that stinks about the washing machine.. but a good lesson to learn.. that the salad spinner doesn't work!

Well, at least you tried!!!

that really is frustrating about the washer, no doubt!

I will say this: my in-laws have a Wii and Wii Fit--no kids at home either..and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it...the kids do too and I was S-O-R-E so when and if you ever get the REALLY is worth it and actually, very educational!

I see the mister has a sick sense of humor still !! So are you getting a fancy-schmancy H.E. front loader in a bright fancy-schmancy color?

Kellie, I totally forgot to tell you when we talked that we just got a new washer and dryer! It was our dryer that went out, but they were both on the old side. I would not have found my brother's joke funny either! Especially with the amount of laundry we do around here. That is hysterical about the salad spinner! You get an A+ for ingenuity!

I hate to spend money on appliances that I don't really like to use in the first place. Your husband sure is a funny guy...I bet he's not doing any laundry by hand.

I can't believe you actually tried to spin your laundry in a salad spinner. You're kidding - right? Sorry 'bout the washer, but don't feel too bad about the Wii. Wii don't have one either. hee hee. I've been feeling a little left out lately because of it. All my friends seem to have one. Maybe that's why I'm the only one NOT getting in shape. ;)

Ah crap! Our dryer suddenly died last year and my husband swore up and down that I had a hand in it. At the very least he thought I was pleased to see it go out...but I wasn't because I would have rather spent the money, like you, on something fun like a wii.

Oh no! That is so frustrating...same exact thing happened to me a few months back. Hubby was able to find a part on Ebay and fix it (ours was almost exactly 10 years old, too)...I wonder if you could do the same thing and still get the Wii....hmmm. :)

I can't believe you really and truly did try to dry in a salad spinner. Crazy Woman!!
We had a bad washer this summer and I have to say I still LOVE LOVE LOVE my new front loader. I'd take a new washer over a Wii. for a while anyway.
So so sorry you have to spend the money on an appliance though.

Our washer stopped spinning the year before we moved to Almost Mexico. It was only 4 years old!!! The Maytag repairman WOULDN'T fix it. He said that it wouldn't be worth it. I think Maytags were having a bad spell when we bought ours, because we had it repaired twice under warranty, and once outside of warranty before it just died. How sad. You going to make the big jump to front load?

Appliances - they never die at a convenient time! Sorry to hear of the loss of yours, and sorrier to hear that you won't be getting the new toy, uh, I mean educational equipment. :(

You're so funny.

I'm sorry about your washing machine. That would make me sad. (Because I get depressed when I have to spend large sums of money on things like that.)

There are few things worse than being down by one washing machine. Take it from a girl who knows. Good luck on that front.

The Wii fit is totally overrated anyway. Okay. Not really. But I had to at least *try* to cheer you up! :)
