Read with Me: Week 1

Whew! I made it through the first week of the Read with Me challenge.

I'm loving the format of reading a bit of OT, a bit of poetry (Psalm), a small portion from the Gospels, and then a bit of NT.

Today I thought I would give you a glimpse of where my quiet time is happening...

I've changed my venue....instead of reading in my office (which also serves as the math class, the gym, the ironing room and the craft explosion) I'm staying in my room.

Once I head downstairs its really hard to not switch into lets-plow-through-the-day-and-get-things-checked-off-my-list mode. Staying in my room will help keep my heart and mind relaxed, and to enjoy this time. So far its working. What helped was a gift I received last weekend.

The (amazingly talented and handsome) Mister built that lap desk for me, and I drink my coffee in my bed and read.

Can we spell s-p-o-i-l-e-d  r-o-t-t-e-n?

If you are interested in joining me and the other Read with Me Girls....its not too late! Click here, sign up, and start reading!

I read in my bed, too, but at night. My reading program has me starting in Genesis and I've loved rereading Joseph's story.

That's not a bedroom; that's an oasis. NICE! :)

I usually read in bed, too, for the same reasons. Once I leave my room, it becomes very difficult to find a moment of quiet focus.

Love your little reading space! I have been doing the 90 day challenge.. its tough but I'm loving it so far. I did the bible in the year the way you were reading it.. it was one of the most fun ways to read through the bible :-)

This has been one of my challenges this week, where and when to do this. I felt like I should do it in the morning right after I get home from dropping my #1 off at the bus, but I feel to ready to do something then. My normal quiet time is in the afternoon but I have been worried I wouldn't make time every single day.
Can I come over and use your spot? It sure looks relaxing and like I'm at a retreat or something!
(totaly kidding, don't freak out)

What a beautiful space!

I've used more grace days than I'd intended by this time so I'm going to see how I do with a little catch-up time this weekend. We don't have any plans, which thrills me to my toes. I want to stay inside and catch up on all the stuff I need to catch up on and my reading plan is the first thing on my list.

Oh.My.Gosh.

That is a beautiful space. And I'd never leave that room.

"Hello, children. Come hither and do your spelling while mama stays in this bed."

Love the lap desk!!!

I'm reading straight through the Bible...love that OT history so incredibly much!

Check out that retreat! Love it.

I'm going now to check out the reading plan. I read the One Year Bible every year (OT, Psalms, Proverb and NT), so I don't know if it will fit that or not.

That's your actual bed?! It's gorgeous! And cozy! And gorgeous! I think I'd have to leave just to concentrate.

Seriously, I am praying hard this year that the Lord would push me and enable me to get up early and get in the Word. It is a very real struggle for me every single morning. You motivate me. I'll let you know how it goes!

That is a GREAT space, Kellie. How do you drag yourself downstairs!?!?!

I'm caught up on my reading. Got bogged down in Genesis but got caught up this afternoon. So glad we're all in this together.

And hey...I'm 10 posts behind on your blog and going to sit here until I get caught up!

I was just thinking about changing my quiet time venue to my bedroom today.

The kids are off of school and Scooby Doo in the background was really disrupting my thoughts. ;)

I guess I will have to pick up my room, though. I can't have messiness when I sit down to do my reading. Weird, huh?

Your bedroom is beautiful!

You had me at brown and blue. Sigh. I think I'll read in your space, too.

AAAAHHHHH!!

Looks lovely.

I, too, am enjoying how this plan is laid out...finding my footing with several other things I've started and figuring out how to fit it all in...

and that desk is just amazing!
