Polar Vortex

The Polar Vortex found its way to the Carolina's last night. I know I'm supposed to hem and haw and gnash my teeth at this foreboding cold, but I'll share a secret with you: I kinda like it.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to be out in it, but inside, in my warm house chain drinking cups of tea and cocoa, it isn't all that bad. I even let the kids sleep in for two hours since the local schools had a delay. The Boy is fighting a cold so he needs the extra rest, and I was able to have a little extra time to exercise and make a "real" breakfast. Normally, breakfast is a fend-for-yourself affair.

I've been working on several projects. A couple of my friends have recently had babies.  Not only do babies make me happy, but making baby things with fabric and yarn is nice too.  I'm currently working on a crocheted baby sweater in the softest gray yarn for one baby, and hand embroidering a quilt for another.

My crafters OCD doesn't allow for just one two projects at a time. I also have to do what I like to call "quickies"{insert giggle} AKA, projects that can be done in an hour or two. Quickies help my crafters ego feel accomplished and quenches the thirst for instant crafting gratification.

This weekend I whipped up a chunky infinity scarf worn in the picture below. I had actually used that yarn for a knit scarf I made last year, but it was too long and when i came across this super easy pattern, I needed yarn, ASAP. So I pulled out the knit work, and repurposed. After all, when you feel inspired and it's too late to go to the yarn store, you do watcha gotta do.

I'm on the hunt for a good pattern for crochet boot cuffs for my new red boots. I've already got the fisherman's wool purchased and ready. When I find a good one, I'll let you know.
