Out of the Mouth of Babes

Last night we were talking about the concept of "time".

The Mister was discussing the history of time and he mentioned that long ago, before there were watches and clocks, people would make appointments by using different sun-based phrases.

He explained there wasn't a wrist watch to look at while you casually asked a friend to come over for lunch at 12:45p. Instead one might say, "come on over around mid-day."

"Oh!" The Girl says, with a look of sudden clarity.

"Is that what you and mom had to do when you were kids?"

No, sweetie, by then we had a sun dial.

How funny.
I was talking with one of my daughters one time about not having a microwave when I grew up. She wondered how we ate popcorn?? :)

Too funny! My 6 year old was reading a book about Thanksgiving and asked if I got to ride on the Mayflower. It must be in their job description to make us feel as old as possible. :)

LOL! I suppose it's good that we went over humility last week in our Bible study.

Just found your blog and wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying my Saturday morning read through. I particularly related to your humble post. I have a degree in acting so you can only imagine how I understood the whole centre stage need. You put into words so eloquently how I have also felt, not as a homeschooler but as a SAHM. We also just bought a flip and you're right, it is today's tape recorder. Thanks for blogging,
Dana

Hey, did you have to dust the snow off the sun dial 'cause of the Ice Age? My kids think I'm ancient too. I tried to explain to them that we never had remote controls to the TV. The asked me what we did and I told them that's why people had kids! The youngest had to turn the knob!

Ha! That's pretty funny, Kellie.
