Raising Enablers

One of the things I love about my kids is that they know me.

They really do.

They know that my favorite animal is the giraffe.

They know that I don't really have a favorite color, but if you press me to give you one I'll tell you pink.

They know that I love reading and I look forward to Wednesday Night Date Night with their dad (aka: Wine Wednesdays...I almost always have a glass of wine with dinner on Wednesday.)

They know I enjoy homemade gifts, and that I have this super-love for babies.

They know that the songs Happy Birthday and the Star Spangled Banner will make me cry every. blessed. time.

However, if you asked them what advice you would give someone about me they would say:

"Don't talk to her before the first two cups of coffee."

Sad, but true.

Yesterday, the kids were building Legos while listening to Old Yeller on an audio disk.

When we were done, The Boy came to me and said, I made you something!

Its a state-of-the-art coffee maker that cleans up after itself, with a JUMBO sized coffee cup.

Yes.

They know me.

I love them so....

That is awesome! It's not only super creative, but it's super sweet.

I always cry during The Star Spangled Banner. And, I think I need to add Wednesday Wine/Date Night to my schedule :)

First, I cry too, with those 2 songs every time! So glad to hear I am not alone, why is it I get so choked up?

Second, C a A are so alike, and my kids know me too, I love jewelry and boy do they know it, instead of a coffee maker, I get lego jewels, whole made bracelets, rocks found found and wired to make a ring.

Wow- what cool kids we have!!!

Third- I need to sit down and really think about how great my kids are and not dwell on all the things I worry about...Thanks for this great reminder.

So Cute! The fact that he actually thought about you is what is so sweet. As a mom of teen/young adult male children, let me say, these moments come so infrequent as they get older. {sigh} Darn those girlfriends!

Ha! That's priceless.

I SOOO wish I liked coffee. I am NOT a morning person and I can't think of anything to wake me up. Hmmmm ....

AWW! I would SO love for our boys to build Legos together!!!!!

That is just awesome!! I love that he thought of you and that your kiddos know you so well...speaks volumes about your relationship with them.

Remember the "Happy Birthday" Connor built for me out of legos this year?! Gosh, I just love boys, their legos and how much they love us! And, how much thought and awareness goes into making such creations! ;)
