Checking In

I've been a bit preoccupied this week.

First, The Boy has been sick since Sunday. I thought it was just a head cold because it started with just a mild sore throat, but no fever. Then yesterday he woke up with a cough and lots of congestion. Still, no fever.

Today, the fever has come.

I'm praying no body else catches our bug.

Second, my embroidery machine arrived on Monday! Which is why it has been quiet here for the last 48 hours. I have been taking my free moments throughout the day to learn this new machine.

Oh! He's magnificent. He's a Brother and I am just loving all the things he can do.

I'm also thinking about a name for him...because I'm weird like that.  I'm leaning toward Gretchen's suggestion of Clinton, after Clinton Kelly of What Not To Wear fame. I loved this idea because I think Clinton is a cutie. He helps people with a bland sense of fashion to see their full potential. I think that's exactly what my Brother is going to do...only with fabric.

Here are few little "practice" things I have done:

Third, a conversation with The Boy:

Boy: Mom, how come I have to do school if I'm sick?

LVCG: Because that's the beauty of homeschool. You don't have to get behind when you're sick. You can still read all that stuff in the comfort of your bed.

Boy: Ya, but I was thinking it would make me feel better if I didn't have to do school.

LVCG: Nope, you don't get to skip school. You can rest just as easily while reading your history as you can watching TV.

(Long silence)

Boy: Mom, are you saying you never played hooker in school?

LVCG: WHAT?????!!!!!

Hooky.

He meant hooky.

Um, no,never played hooky in school.

Very much.

Happy Wednesday!

Definitely Clinton...

I've named my KA stand mixer, K: "Blue Thunder" -- because it's a beautiful cobalt blue, and someday soon, I think it's going to explode from over-use and exhaustion, raining debris down over the kitchen.

HAVE FUN! (Sometimes sick days are rejuvinating for us HS Mamas :)

OK, that was funny. (I vote he gets a little slack for being sick.)

Love your cool new machine! I'm jealous...I see an etsy storefront in your future.

How funny is The Boy?! Hope he gets better soon!!!

Y'know I was just about to ask about the name, so I'm glad you discussed. I like Clinton! Or Holly since the Hollies sang "he ain't heavy, he's my BROTHER!!" ahhh, I kill myself! ;) Besides, I like it being a girl for some reason..and WOW...at what you've done already!! BEAUTIFUL!

Ok, get back to Holly or Clinton..could her name be Holly Clinton?!

LOL. Yup, that boy shouldn't skip school. Someone needs to teach him the difference between hooker and hooky. Of course, my son thinks "tootie" and "twenty" are the same word. :)

Hope he feels better soon and that no one else gets it!

That machine does really cool things!! I'm looking forward to see what beautiful things the two of you make together.

Sorry The Boy is sick and that his mean teacher/mom won't let him rest. ;)

Wow, your brother, no matter what you call him, does beeeyootiful work. Even for a hooker. Er...or someone playing hookey. Sun up.

Don't you just love it when they come up with a word that just doesn't quite "hit the mark" & you get all worked up?!!!! We've had that happen so often, so I just had a good laugh when I read this one. Love your new little machine! Looks like you are getting very familiar with it already. Lots of fun ahead! If we ever get to meet (like 1 day with CPQ & New Every AM), I hope to meet Clinton too.....

Oh that cracked me up. Hooker. HA!

But about his sickness...the symptoms you described are EXACTLY what we've been dealing with over here with Jayce and the redhead. First head cold-ish kind of stuff. Then comes the fever. No fun.

Love your machine btw. Can't wait to see what you do with it, uh, er, I mean him. :)
