They Say Its My (Blog) Birthday...

....(So around here) It's Your Blog Birthday Too!!

It's going to be a great weekend!

I was unable to get on the computer yesterday for your fifth and final question. So today I am going to give you a hint, but the question is a two-parter.

Here's the question: Growing up we had a family tradition. Over the years this tradition has NEVER happened without a certain story being told: What is that tradition? Why did I decided to try that tradition on my own?

And the other questions this week were:

What is my favorite flavor m&m?

What is the name of my fave winter heating blanket?

What is my favorite NASCAR car?

Who is my look alike action figure?

Now, if you have had trouble finding the answers to these questions, that's OK! There will still be a consolation prize for those who can make up answers that will make us all laugh.

(But for those of you who found this blog under the R-rated Google search words, you are automatically disqualified. I will not post comments that are inappropriate. Just bein' clear.)

For those of you who know the answer to all six questions (and those who will try to guess), give me your answers in the comments below. I will keep the comments open until 3pm (EST) Monday, July 13. I will then randomly choose a winner for the prize.

Wanna know what you're going to win? Well, you are going to win a La Vida Dulce original apron of your choice, and a pound of the coffee that the H-E-B People say is "close" to the original coffee called La Vida Dulce, the coffee this blog was named after.

Consolation Prize? Well, that will be a surprise....I'll have to see what I've got around here, but it would be worth commenting because I like to give nice gifts, I'm just sayin'.

Also, you may see that things around here are looking a little different. Jo-Lynne of Musings of a Housewife and DCRDesign, did the green and burgundy design a little over a year ago. She had just started her business and I was one of her first clients. I've loved the work Jo-Lynne did!

This year, Jackie from Our Moments Our Memories opened her blog design business, Memories by Design. I have read Jackie's blog for over a year now and I really wanted to support her new endeavor, as I had Jo-Lynne's when she was a new designer.

So that's what I did.

By the time this posts, my new "look" may be visible. I am so pleased with the new design, and Jackie is just great to work with! If you have the desire to get some bloggy style, go check out her design site. (If the new design isn't up yet, please come back soon to check it out!)

I have got to get to swimming Championships this morning, and i'll be there all day. can't wait to get home and see who's dropped by the party!

Disclaimer: Since the choice of apron will be of your choosing, it will not be ready until the first week of September (I am about to be on vacation for a month). You do not have to a blog to win. But you do have to have a valid email address.

I sure wish I knew the answers :( but I must say that if I were to give you a lookalike action figure, she would be WONDER WOMAN!!!!!

I just love your new look, also. Nicely done :)

I need to come back and try to answer those questions! Just have time for a quickie now...I wanted to tell you that your blog looks great. Love the design!

Ok! I think I finally found them all. :)

1. Peanut.

2. Cookie.

3. Tampax (hahahha!)

4. Ok - in you post you called it the Kellie Action Figure, but you filed it under Dora the Explorer. So...I THINK it's Dora's mama, or maybe Diego's mama? Or is it Dora herself? I'm confusing myself now. :)

5. Making tamales!

6. To establish traditions in your home that creates a place of belonging and creates a centerpiece where stories are born.

Hope these are all right! And happy Bloggy Anniversary - you've been at it a long time, and I hope you continue, 'cause I love reading your blog.

Happy Bloggy Birthday, and I love the new design - especially the monogrammed coffee mug, because as we all know, sometimes in the morning fog we need to have the cup clearly spell to whom it belongs.

I am not participating in the giveway since I know you and hope that I can take clear advantage of our IRL friendship to get an apron whenever I need it (and whenever I actually start cooking for my family).

I'll let someone else be COMPLETELY blown away by how beautiful they are and how incredibly crafty you are.

I really enjoy your blog, although I have never commented before. I recently commented on CPQ's blog, and that has changed me from a stalker to a .... i don't know. a more friendly stalker?? ha! So, love your blog, don't know the answers to the questions, but I would think you are Mrs. Incredible, a/k/a elastigirl, as in when your kids ask you for something when you are two rooms away and they are right next to it...who am I? elastigirl??? happy anniversary!

Ok, well I tried searching for some of the answers....I'm a bad answer searching. I came up empty.

And now...because I'm honest...I'm cheating..I just saw a couple answers(thank you Jackie). So, just refer to Jackie's post for my answers ;) Ummm, how did she find the answers when I could not?? See, I'm a bad searcher!

1. peanut
2. cookie
3. tampax

I didn't find the last one.. but I read a cool post about the special red plate tradition! And can I just tell you how cool this is! I think I might need to implement this! Can I steal your idea?

ok i think I know you pretty well and since I am short on time and still catching up reading your current blog I am going to wing it and go for these
i will start with the easy one Yellow peanut M&M's are your favorite with diet coke and popcorn of course
you made tamales like your dad did to keep the tradition going and I think you use to hide when he did it Your blue heating blanket is named cookie and you love him in the winter there in NC but not as much here in Texas. You really do not like NASCAR but you made fun of the Tampax car, you really should be going for the Viagra car. I am sorry I do not know the action figure one I can't really think of one you look like unless it is mexican Barbie ha ha actually I think you look like Eva Langoria from Desperate Housewives.....
Miss you gotta run much to do

1. Yellow M&M's

2. Cookie your queen-sized blue heating blanket:-)

3. Tampax car

4. Mami from Dora the Explorer

5. Making tamales for Christmas. To establish traditions in your home that creates a place of belonging and a centerpiece where stories are born.

I'm pretty sure these are all correct. I enjoy reading your blog and I REALLY hope I win! :-)

I feel terrible, because I consider you a friend, but I don't know the answers!! Well, I do know the answer to #4 (NASCAR) because I nearly wet myself reading that the first time you posted it. But the rest? Oh, I don't know. Let me see ...

Tradition: burnt masa and making tamales

M&Ms: Red?

Blanket: Cozy, warm blanket?

NASCAR: Tampax (still laughing!)

Action Figure: Um ... Wonder Woman. Definitely. Dark hair, great body, can swim (I think) and multitask, both with the grace of a well-trained ballerina. ;)

Oh, I forgot! LOVE the new look! I liked the old one, too, but this is very nice. I especially like your new avatar. It's so you.

I love your new look! It's lovely. (And thanks for the mention. Was it really a year ago that I started my biz? Hard to believe.)

Happy blogiversary!! :-)

1. Tamales. In spite of the mess. :) Maybe you could revise that tradition to include sending some to your dear friend in the Old Pueblo. Because I have a tradition of eating them. The making of them escapes me.

2. You don't like the taste of red M&M's but yellow is your favorite.

3. Your blanket is Cookie. Named after a certain monster on Sesame Street. And I just have to add that I left my favorite blanket at Disney World in 2001. I wouldn't have brought it with me but for the fact that we were mid-move from Georgia to Cali and I didn't want it to get lost. My life hasn't been the same since. So I feel your pain when the Mister threatens to "misplace" it...

4. Ah. The Tampax car. One of my favorite Kellie stories. And ohmygosh I almost forgot to tell you. Did you know they took gullible out of the dictionary?! Such a travesty. :)

5. I must be a moron. Because I cannot find this story. But I would love for you to direct me to it to see if what they say is true - that you consider Mami your look-alike. Because that is too funny.

And Happy Belated bloggiversary. I love the spiffy new look.

The poem in your side bar?
Delicious.

1. Green
2. "Tampax"
3. 1. Wonderwoman 2.Batgirl
4. tradition? I don't know, but I'll have fun hearing all about it.

I'm so, so, so glad God joined us thru this blogosphere, Kellie. You totally and amazingly rock.
