Happy New Year! And the First Random Poll of 2009!!!

I tried really hard to stay up so I could post at exactly midnight. (I thought it would be cheating to try schedule a post!)

The kids have never stayed up until midnight and New Years Eve and they wanted to try.

So we ate M&M's and watched Survivor Man together.

The Mister was dozing by 8:30 pm.

The Girl was out by 9:15.

So it was just The Boy and I, snuggled under blankets, watching Survivor Man try to survive a tropical island.

Next thing I know, The Boy is shaking me out of a sound sleep, saying he was throwing in the towel.  It was 10:20.

Oh, we are such wimps!

Anyway, I pray that your New Year is fantastic. Full of good health and happy times!

So the Random Poll is: Did you stay up to ring in the New Year?

I made it an even enjoyed a glass of champagne. I was in bed by 1am though.

Good try though, maybe next year.

Happy New Year, Kellie! Yes, hubby and I made it to the stroke of midnight. We played a game of Scrabble (I totally won big time), watched a movie and then from my warm cozy bed, while reading a book, I rang in the New Year. So different from years ago!! :)

Just barely.. tried to go to bed at 11 but by the time I got things picked up and ready for bed it was almost midnight. So we rung in the new year and closed our eyes and went to bed :-P

You are so funny! Most of us made it...the littlest animal in our forest cashed in her chips around 11:00. Our heater crashed around 6:30 so we plugged my heating blanket in and snuggled under the mounds of comforters on the sofa and watched Kung Fu Panda together. (:

Yes, I did. But it was just another day for me since we keep a very late schedule, restaurant industry and all.

I made it to 11:30pm...SO close!

We went to some friend's house, but "pretended" it was midnight at 10pm. The kids thought that was fun.

Yes, I did. We always have a youth event to attend. Since having my girls, I can usually use them as an excuse to skip out early (sad, I know), but this year I lasted until 11:30. I came home, put my kiddos to bed and got in bed right at midnight. Then, I was out like a light. I'm getting too old to hang with youth :)

Nope, not a chance. We are all about getting as much sleep as we can these days, with two kiddos waking up early (and one sometimes waking up throughout the night to "chat".)

Happy New Year!

Our five-year-old daughter lasted until about 8... she's been home for two weeks now with no naps. But the 10-year-old made it until midnight with us. We watched the new Indiana Jones movie till about 12:30. A good time was had by all.

With 3 kids 3.5 and under who wake up early, we were happy to call it a night shortly after 10. Our neighbors however were lively, so we woke up from them and gave eachother a brief happy new year. :)

Yes, even til Central time (since we're in Alabama right now) but I wish we hadn't. It really isn't worth it!

Yes we did! My parents were here and my sister's family came over, so we did burgers on the grill and then played a couple of rousing guys-against-girls games of Disney Scene-It before ringing in the New Year with Dick Clark & Ryan Seacrest. Champagne for adults and sparkling apple cider for the 4kids, followed by poppers and crackers in the front yard at midnight. Even Grandpa (73) had fun pulling crackers! Lots of fun. We did get into bed by 1:00 though.

I just realized I had not one drop of alcohol (?) but yes, indeed, we all four at our house made it to midnight, and I had to impatiently urge the 7-year-old and 10-year-olds to bed. (?!?) I don't drink much, but USUALLY at least have something on New Year's Eve. Didn't miss it, obviously though! (ha ha) We have had a family fun night tradition going the past several years to avoid the outdoors festivities in our midwestern (COLD!) city. The kids not only fell for it, everyone loves it and has a blast for its own merits, not simply shrewdly avoiding the cold elements outdoors. Yippee! Happy New Year to all.

We made it. Barely. Our movie ended around 11:00 and it we had a hard time entertaining ourselves for that last tired hour. Technically we were in bed when the hour struck but we listened as the neighbors made a fuss!

Make it 'till midnight? Are you kidding? That is my usual time to pack lunches, check email, read your blog, and channel surf-know wonder I'm tired all the time.
