I Really Am Alive. Really.

....although it may be hard to believe.

Here are some random facts:

- For you blogger-friends, I have yet to make it to your posts. Sorry! I really am going to get there! I've missed reading you!

-For you friends IRL, my phone is D-E-A-D. Dead. Actually my friend,  K1, called me on Saturday and according to my phone, she is still calling me. Only I cannot answer the phone, nor turn it off. Which is ironic since this phone hasn't held a charge for more than two hours in several months. I could unhook the battery pack to turn it off, but the last time I dropped the phone the backing cracked, and it's currently being held together with duct tape.

-Do you think it's time for a new phone?

-Speaking of phone, I made an appointment for a haircut on Monday. It's the first NC haircut with a new stylist. I've seen her work, and she's good. At first I was sad because she wasn't taking new clients, but now she is. I'm thinking she could be The One. Pray for me.

-Today I am working on a the most beautiful apron I have ever made (if I don't say so myself), but I can't really talk about it until the weekend.

-I have to figure out the best way to harass The Mister. Because on Sunday he will be 40 years old!!!!

-The beautiful apron is not for him. He's not the apron wearing type.

-Do you remember when forty sounded older than dirt?  And here we are...(although I still have a few years.)

- Among the piles of things that must be done around here, I have to figure out what to do with these:
-These are Rome and Gala apples from West Virginia. We have a friend from church who can get these apples from WV at $24 a bushel. I had no earthly idea how big a bushel was so I ordered half.

-FYI: Half Bushels are still pretty impressive.

-Got any good apple recipes.

-I'm not a big apple pie fan. (but if you have a killer recipe, pass it on)

-I'm in a lunch rut.  I really wish lunch could just be skipped. I love lunch when I am with a friend or something fun. But daily, it's seems like such a waste of time and energy.

-Back to the cell phone...all my numbers are programmed in that baby, and have been for years. If I need to find a phone number any time soon, I'm in trouble.

-I finally did something I haven't done in years. I bought socks. Real, wear with your everyday shoes, not running, kind of socks. I bought 6 pair in black, and these babies:

-Am I living on the edge or what?

-My feet are toasty, and this is good because as I type it is SNOWING OUTSIDE!!!!

(According to the weather guy, it's not really snow, but a flurry. And before I finished with spell check, it's over. Bummer!)

Love the random thoughts!

I love toasty socks and sweat pants when it is snowing outside, even though I don't see much now that I am back in TX, but back in NJ I had a few too many days in socks and sweats!

Good luck with your phone issues!

Okay, let's see if I can remember everything that popped into my mind reading that...

First, one of my close IRL friend's phone all of the sudden got a life of its own and started calling me (the last outgoing number) randomly. I think it called me about 20 times one day. I thought maybe she was in trouble so I just HAD to drive over to see because it also wouldn't TAKE my return calls. (She was fine.)

Also, I hate phone batteries. They all stink.

That is a WHOLE lot of apples. I'm not an apple pie person, either, but apple crisp is divine, especially with ice cream. Mmm.

And lastly, I have black/gray/white argyle socks, too, and I think they are SO CUTE. Perfect for that snappy casual look.

Ok, I love apples cut into slices and dipped in peanut butter. My kids have peanut allergies, so I keep a small jar of PB at the office & it's one of my favorite work treats. :)

But if that's not to your liking, I'll post my favorite apple recipe & email it to you. Yummy and easy, I promise!!

Glad to hear everything is okay -- although that stinks about your phone. Isn't funny how lack of a phone can make you feel so "cut off" from the world?

You had to figure I'd have a recipe, right? :) I saw this one a few weeks ago and am planning on doing it for Thanksgiving. It sounds awesome! Here's the link: http://asouthernfairytale.blogspot.com/2008/11/mouthwatering-monday-apple-piegasm.html

Hey! Money Saving Mom recently did a post on ways to use massive amounts of apples. Or maybe she asked for suggestions and got 100+ ideas.

Glad you're back!

Girl, you had me laughing out LOUD...

Love the socks..can't wait to see the apron...and can I just say:

AMEN! ON THE LUNCH THING...ughh, what is the deal???? I seriously think if I see two more pieces of bread with ANYTHING in between them, I'll die.

I, too, am going to someone new on Thursday for my hair...blessings to both of us...we'll discuss later, k?

Lastly, here's my offering for an EASY YUM-O apple recipe. The recipe calls for Golden Delicious but I can't imagine why you couldn't use yours:

Apple Dumplings

2 Large *insert your apples here
peeled, quartered and cored
1 stick of butter (the real stuff)
1 can of crescent rolls
1 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of water
cinnamon

Melt butter, sugar and water all together in a saucepan.

Place a piece of quartered apple into crescent roll and sprinkle cinnamon over it and roll it up.

Repeat to make all 8 rolls.

Place all rolls in 13X9 dish and pour sugar mixture ALL OVER the dumplings and in the pan...(it looks like a lot of liquid but it soaks up)...Bake at 350* for about 20 minutes...

These are super rich and yummy and *blush* we've even added some vanilla ice cream...of course, they are best served warm...

Glad you're alive!!

bummer about the phone...
be kind with the harassment... I turn 41 *gasp!* on Tuesday. [Still wondering how that happened]
The stylist sounds like a winner.
my mom and I made homemade applesauce with lots and lots of cinammon and it is delish! I put some with plain yogurt and it was mmmmm :D
that's enough random for today! xxoo

Cute socks! You are totally living on the edge, girl.

I was going to suggest apple dumplings too...I have a fabulous recipe, but I haven't made them in a long time because they call for a lot of butter, which I'm sort of trying to avoid right now. :) But they are fantastic.

SOCKS!!! You lucky duck! Love the argyle.

So, I'm not the only one with cell phone woes, huh? Didn't you say you knew 3 people with water-damaged phones last week? And now yours is kaput! :( I'm with you on the phone number thing. I'm going to take my little memory card thingie out and bring it down to Alltel and have them try to extract the numbers. They can do that!

What to do with those apples??? Send them MY way; we just ate the last of our apples, and I'm so sad! I did a post last year about what to do with apples:
http://learningpatience.wordpress.com/2007/09/21/apple-season/

You can also make apple crisp, which is so much healthier than pie, and oh, so yummy! I use my Betty Crocker cookbook and add extra oats and sometimes nuts! Let me know, if you don't have a Betty C cookbook and I'll e-mail you the recipe!
